Hey folks,

I had the chance to try out some maternity portraits with my wife. This was my first attempt at maternity shots. We did a few beauty / head shots as well. I also tried a different post-processing technique for me.

C&C is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,
Owen

you definitely need something to separate her hair from he background in a few of these. i found a 580exII of whatever u have on a boom reflecting an umbrella, right above the subject gives a really cool effect. just an idea though. im sure she will love these

The photos are nice and sharp, and I enjoy the lighting.

I have found the colour difference between her face (foundation) and neck to be very distracting.

I agree with the hair light to separate the background. You can use a flagged hotlight if you don't have another strobe.

I'd be awesome to have a shot where mom is looking/talking/playing with her tummy. This gives the viewer a sense of the unconditional bond between mother and baby.

Congratulations to both you.

- #2 the white of her right eye is blue. Can be fix in PP.

Thanks for the feedback. I added one showing a connection between Mom and baby.

Very Pretty. Agreed that an extra light would help add detail. I would use it in all the dark bkrg shots. Your lighting on the face is nice in every one except for #2. Nice start!

Nice pics. I like the lighting. She definitely has that pregnant glow. She looks very tall.
