Do you know the distribution of the different Camera body lines
What is the % sold by Canon of: XD , XXD, XXXD (Rebels) ?
I assume 5%, 25%, 70% - but it is only a guess

You can't possibly assume because you have no insight! It's clearly a guess, but seems pointless. If you want to pursue it, you might consider whether the distribution is being measured in terms of numeric quantity or financial value. Clearly they might target sales financial value and have a formula for distributing an optimised quantity of high and low financial value products to achieve that. However, currency effects can spoil an international company's business plan. Another awkward decision for them is "which" mix of product lines should be manufactured because some "contribute" higher amounts of profit than other products. Production isn't an unlimited activity because resources have to be available and paid for. Its probable that their mass market targeted P&S cameras make a larger contribution to costs than the expensive xD range which are sold in smaller quantities but on which Canon build their reputation and sell high other high value accessories to professionals. That's not to say that they don't sell large numbers of DSLR's in total. Most manufacturers use "bread and butter" business (P&S and entry level DSLR) to cover the fixed operational costs and even use that steady revenue to fund the development of new products. .

So, IMHO, trying to determine the distribution numbers isn't likely to paint any picture of how Canon is performing.
