My wife got a Netflix DVD of a reality show called 19 Kids and Counting
the other day. We don't watch many reality shows, but one thing I have noticed is that trade marks and product names are normally blurred out or absent from the shows. Not so with the Duggars... this show is practically a Canon commercial.
Early on in one episode I noticed one of the girls taking shots with what appeared to be a gripped 50D with a red ring (quite an odd camera for a 12 year old girl). Later I noticed the dad carrying two cameras on a fancy strap, one of which appeared to be one of the 1D models. Several kids had rebels, the word canon was plain as day on the straps and the cameras, though the cameras were never mentioned until near the end of one episode.. The family went to El Salvador to work with poor families. They gave gifts to the families, including a family picture. The eldest son made a comment to the effect that: many of these impoverished people have never had a picture of themselves, and none taken with such a high quality camera.
I got a kick out of the show, but I was wondering if canon is a sponsor. We watched on DVD, so we didn't see any commercials. I would be willing to bet that there are Canon commercials when watching on cable.
