I've been using Lightroom 2 and have 2 very large catalogs. I just got a chance to check out Lightroom 3 but I can't open my existing catalogs in LR3.

Does that mean that I can only use LR3 to check it out or import new photos and projects but can't view or continue to work on images in my existing catalogs?

They haven't put the function for importing LR2 catalogs in the Beta but it will be in the final edition. Once you have imported the old catalogs into LR3 you will have the choice of setting either Process 2003 which will retain LR2 editing or re-editing an image in the new Process 2010.

Thank you. Do you know when LR3 will be released?

Truer words have never been spoken.

I just want to know how much the full (non-upgrade) version of LR 3 will cost!

Probably about the same as LR2 does now, which you can find on Adobe's website or Amazon etc. It's unlikely it'll jump that far.

Will it be a perfect conversion? Or one is better off creating new catalogs when LR3 is finally released?

Hi guys,

Rather than start another thread, can someone answer this question?

I run slideshows a lot. Sometimes it's just for me to review and rate images and other times I like to sit with clients and have a slide show running.

That works great but one thing that troubles me and I wish it were a feature in LR2 and certainly in LR3, is the ability to preview sharpening in slideshows. Every other parameter is displayed and rendered in real time during a slide show but not sharpening, and the only way to see sharpening is by viewing at 100%.

Anyone know anything about this or the possibility of this being a feature?
