s90: using camera to view photos from a pre-loaded memory card?

I love the LCD on the s90 and would like to use it as a picture viewer for times when I don't have my laptop available.

What I was hoping to be able to do is load a memory card with various .jpg photos that are on my computer (via a card reader), and then place the card in s90 and review/play back the shots.

I haven't yet figured out how to do this - if it is even possible. Can anyone advise? Thanks much - flanny

The camera insists that images be in the "right" directory and with the "right" name, as when it creates them, or it won't see them. So \DCIM\100CANON\IMG_1234.JPG should display but \MySavedPhotos\Uncle_Bill.JPG definitely won't. On some models (haven't tried this recently; my phone, netbook and PDA all do the job for me) the size has to correspond to one the camera can handle. Videos need both the file and its accompanying .THM.

don't think, just try it.

i've had success loading photos dating back to 2003 onto my SD card, over two thousand of them in fact. you will need to create folders with a lower sequence number, for example if the oldest folder on your S90's card is 130_10 then name it 129_09 (129CANON might also work, as it does on mine because i've used other canons in the past and that was their naming convention). you may also need to rename your images.

this is what it looks like:

good luck.
