This is a year and a half old thread, but...
You are aware that the Image Review time can be set to 2, 4 or 8 seconds, or to "Hold", or "Off" to not review at all (which is what I use... I just press the review button to look an image... actually it's histogram more often)? It's fifth item down from the top, in the first camera setup tab (red) of the menu. Once the camera is back in the "ready to shoot" mode, the rear LCD screen won't come back on until you press the image review button again, or for a short duration right after taking a shot (unless you set Review Time to "Off", like me, in which case it won't come on without pressing the review button).
Also, as someone already mentioned, you can set Auto Power Off to short durations... That might be what's happening... 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc. This is to conserve battery charge and the camera wakes back up with a half press on the shutter release button (or press just about any other button). So long as you are using it, it will remain awake. If you let it sit fo the set amount of time, it will go into sleep mode. It's the first item under the first yellow tab.
