I bought an Elinchrom EL 10267KITA (external link) Ranger RX Speed AS Kit with A Head at Adorama, and everything looks really good. I'm very excited to test it out this weekend.

However, I can't charge the battery because stupid me can't figure out how this two prongs plug into a North America NEMA 5–15 socket.

The charger's part number is EL 19283.

I thought all Ranger RX unit comes with a multi-socket adapter. Mine just came without any adapter.

Do I have to buy the universal rapid charger with part number EL 19293 (external link)? Or is it possible for me to pick up an adapter at Radio Shacks that would work with this charger?

Unfortunately, Adorama isn't replying to my email because they're closed until next Wednesday for Passover. So I have to seek for help here.

Thank you.

If your charger label says 90-260V / 50-60Hz then you have 2 options
I have same charger 19283 and it is labelled as above

1. buy adaptor from any electrical store. The plug is european (type C) so you need adaptor from european (type C) to american (type A).
2. I would recommend to buy new cable so you dont need to play with adaptors. Same power cord that you have on you PC works fine

Both options are very cheap (few dollars should do it) but I still recommend to buy new power cord.

Hope this helps

+1, get another cord and you'll be set :)

Any local radio shack or similar should be able to hook you up for very little dough!

That Rapid Charger is for the non "Speed" versions with the 12v/7ah battery.
The "Speed" chargers usually only come with one cable which is country specific and should be supplied by the importer. But it looks like Adorama are supplying the European 2-pin plug.
All you need is a different cable from the charger to your wall socket from Radio Shack

Thanks all.

That is really strange that a unit sold in the US doesn't come with the appropriate adapter or cable for the US socket.

I didn't even think about using the PC power cable. Hahaha, thanks Semmonka!
