A photographer followed a recent high school grad (recent as in 2007) from his graduation all the way through basic training and then all the way through his deployment, and subsequent return, in iraq. pretty cool stuff, i must say.

Very nice photo blog. The photog could have white balanced the night shots a bit better. Kind of comforting to see that even the much vaunted Nikon D3 has trouble white balancing.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Out of those 84 incredibly executed shots, your best comment is a jab at Nikon?

I thought the series was incredible. Imagine how his family will have this forever, and what he can show his children. I love the emotion captured in every shot. I never thought for even a split second about what camera gear was being used...

The thing I can't get over is just how how young they all look/are.

That is a lot of images, I wish I had the time to look at each one for a while instead of just skimming through them quickly. I'm sure they would look absolutely AMAZING printed at a huge size, those cameras have incredible detail. Very vivid looking, nice PP work and probably more importantly how well he used the lighting to capture the powerful emotions.

Just for your information, Craig Walker just won the Pulitzer prize for these photos. They are cheering in the newsroom now. :-)
