if you are unfamiliar with post processing and dont have any programs to do it with.. the web offers many free programs that make cropping your photos very easy.

You can download picasa from google for free and it has a very easy interface. here is a quick crop i did of your photo. hope you dont mind

QUOTED IMAGE

We have photoshop Elements 8 but it is brand new to us and again I don't know how to use it yet. I downloaded a few of the actions for elements off of Pioneer woman and have been using them until I figure it out!
I dont mind at all that you cropped my picture, Im here to learn! BUT the reason I didn't crop this paticular picture down is because it cut out of the main points of interests, the feathers. She was throwing a pile of feathers up into the air and this was one of the shots, I took about 15 but this was one of my favorites! When you mentioned cropping before, I thought there was a way to crop it somehow to make it smaller but leave in both her and the feathers! Thanks again for your reply and help!

They are all good, but that first one is totally captivating. the huge catchlights in her eyes! adorable. That one deserves to be enlarged and framed for sure! Gorgeous!

Where are you at? Costco does a great job with enlargements at a great price.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Costco really does a good job for the price, I'll second that. The largest they will do in an hour is 11X14. check it out.

Awesome shots. That first shot is so beautiful!!!

As far as your shots being grainy - I think you are looking at compression artifacting (Wikipedia (external link)). I will assume that you are not shooting RAW. Your camera stores the images in a jpeg format that compresses them to save space. The camera stores it at the best quality compression it can - it will give you fine photos. It is possible that when you load the photos on your computer and 'Save for web' that it is bumping up the compression ratio to make them more friendly to slow Internet users. This all happens at the cost of image quality. When saving your images in Elements try playing around with 'Save As' and setting jpeg as the file type and adjusting the 'Quality' setting to High or Highest. Your files will be bigger and you will fill your hard drive with photos of your beautiful daughter, but if they are all as good as your first shot above it is more than worth it.

As for cropping and resizing there is a whole plethora of tutorials out there. Try this one on resizing for a start (Tutorial (external link)). Practice will make perfect there.

Awesome shots.
