Thank you Sue for expressing in words my feelings much better than I myself could do. My heart crys for children who die, all around the world, regardless of the reasons they die. But. . .

It's not real. Embalming is not something that happens in all parts of the world. Many religions actually forbid it. Neil - © NHR Photography

It is the skin of a sleeping child. http://www.flickr.com/photos/staxnet/

What do you really see? I see a young child in repose in a bed of roses. The child is dressed in several layers including a parka and a knit cap. The child's eyes are closed and the mouth relaxed and slightly open. While you may make note of other details, that is all that we know. Whether the child is dead or alive is pure conjecture, What did the artist want us to see. to believe? That this is a deceased child and for us to feel the deep emotional loss such a mental image would evoke. Or are we to simply see the soft angelic beauty of a sleeping child? What I am trying to say is the we each filter this photo through the paradigms of our individual experiences. Let there be room for all of us. Most of what you say is true, as I told you

Something like 'possible dead child photo, view at your own discretion'. No props at all to the person who posted this without explaination. This image makes me ill, in the worst way. Sorry

I've seen dead children, and I've seen middle eastern funerals, and this doens't look like a photo of either. Doesn't mean its not though ![]() However, on second glance, its possible that the title is a reference to the dreams of children, and this child could easily represent an angel sleeping as well. It is interesting how we come to conclusions about things though, and it's still a really good photo. Before starting to photograph any picture thinking to the goal of the image will come to you outstanding results

Apr 05, 2010 05:55 | #28 I feel like im the only one that sees nothing artistic about this photo, looks like the kid was just sleeping and some rose petals were thrown around him....imo composition is pretty bad and the tone doesnt do anything for the picture...the kid does not look dead...maybe because i work in a hospital but i can tell the difference between a dead body and a live person....idk "You know an odd feeling? Sitting on the toilet eating a chocolate candy bar."

That settled, the attempt at showing a sleeping child was unsuccessful to me because of the full clothing, the roses and the pose, IMHO. Sue Cassidy
