They're basically a budding/expanding wedding mill. They (wedding mills) don't pay much. Maybe less than 1/3 of what a low to middle market independent would make. I won't name names because I don't want them to have the free publicity but a certain one I "tried out" for only paid its primary shooters $500 if they were absolutely excellent and its seconds usually got about $300.

So do we look back at this in time and say .. it was technologically time for this,
or, do we suggest that this is indeed an employer driven market, as opposed to one in which it would be considered to be employee driven?

Or a bit of both? No matter what .. the good ole days of being behind the lens and making alot of money and really enjoying it because it was different ..
are really getting to be a bit harder to come by ..

Some folks say, "step up your game" .. lol .. but how do you step it up when people are giving away work .. and RAW files? LMAO! "Oh, I'm not in this to be serious about it" .. wellllllll? Why not become serious?

Atleast freakin compete!!! Some make 75 grand a year with their "day job" and just do this .. "for fun." What can I say? Ehhh, to each their own I guess.
It's up to us to educate these brides .. and hopefully the loyal ones, who truly do enjoy our work keep sending us referals like they always have .. and so on, and so on ..
Man, I swear .. if I had to rely soley upon what little advertizing I did do .. wheww .. Thank God for the wonderful referal brides and repeat high-school senior's send,
or that special family that thinks the world of you and has a framed 24x30 in their living room for everyone that comes over and can't help but comment on ..

Actually, most of those brides that do go to places like David's, I'm not so sure I'd wanna work with anyway .. come to think of it ..
the referals are already atleast half way sold on my abilities .. and therefore, seem to be alot more comfortable and relaxed the day of ... There's a sense of confidence ..

I'm not sure I'd enjoy the pressures of both the employer's and the bride's expectations.
Talk about chemistry .. there are so many varibles with that scenario .. woah!

I couldn't hack it as a wedding mill photographer. They said I wasn't good enough.

But I can make a bride who books a country club, rolls royce, and 40 foot limo (ie not a budget bride) go head over heels on my own.

Go figure. :)

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)
