Hi guys, I`m just wondering if it is a good idea to get this lens off Craigslist locally?
24-70L excellent condition $800 no hood.

I was actually planning to get another prime 100mm to compliment my Sigmalux, but saw an add at Craigslist for 24-70L excellent condition for $800. I heard that the 24-70L is like having a bunch of primes compare to having just 2 dedicated prime lens I have and will have.

I have a 5dc and the ISO 1600 is still usable (I shoot ISO800 at f2.0-2.8 on my Sigmalux).
I kinda like the macro capabilities too on the L.

My situation:
I have a Sigmalux for Bokeh effect or subject isolation.
- want to get a decent landscape lens
-also want a bit of zoom
-macro capabilities too.

It seems like the 24-70L fits the bill...

What do you guys think?

That's the good thing about the used lens market. I say go for it and try it out because you're not going to lost a lot on them, if any. IT's worth a shot and if you don't like it then sell the 24-70L and pickup another lens.

That is a very good price on a excellent condition 24-70, I would jump on it.
I would keep the Sig if you can though.

Yep! that is my problem. I only have limited money for 2 primes. :-(

Plus the fact that I got a no focusing issue Sigmalux out of the box. :-) I just bought it 2 weeks ago brand new...

I would take a proper focusing sig over the 24-70 myself, I tried one but it front focused quite bad.

I'd say keep the Sig. You can't get 1.4 on that 24-70 =) But it all depends on your priorities. That is a pretty good price assuming it's in good condition.

Since the Sigmalux and this lens use 77mm filter, I think it`s a great combo!

I`m also keeping the Sigmalux! ;)

Wow that is a steal he does not go into these forums I am sure because he would have been asking a lot more.

I am actually thinking of the same thing I have a brand new Sig at the repair service center for calibration. But I am kind of hurting for a small zoom so when I check it out and if it's spot on I may sell mine and get something I can zoom with. The only problem is I really like the sig totally awesome and the 1.4 is to kill for.

That is why I`m keeping the Sig. My Sigmalux is now dedicated for indoor use only. ;)

If I did not get this 24-70L sooner or later I will be spending my money not only for 100mm prime, but also for a wide angle prime too. This lens covers both or very close.

All my lenses are primes now and I am so happy so this would make it very tough to get rid of the SigmaLux for sure. I was very happy with close up shots with mine it was only at a distance did I find it needed some help but Monday I get it back so I am excited

I think the Sigmalux wide open is not that sharp if you are taking a landscape scenario. I find f2.8 pretty much acceptable in sharpness at further distances...

Sometimes, it could be the camera body calibration that is off. It`s hard to tell from my side bec. I sent the 5dc body for calibration before buying the Sigmalux. When mated together, it was spot on...
