Nice shots. I can't wait til we go in June. I've never been this excited for a vacation.

I hope I can see/shoot some bears while we are there.

The grizzlies will most likely have retreated into the back country by then but one never knows where one will be. I've been the most lucky finding a griz in the Roaring Mountain area between Mammoth and Norris. Black bear are often spotted in the Tower Junction and Tower Falls area and in other parts of the Park but I haven't been lucky enough to see one yet. I've also seen fox and kits in that area as well. There will be plenty of elk and bison of course and the occasional coyote too. There are also some moose but they're more numerous to the south and in Grand Teton NP. I hope you have an eventful as well as a delightful time. :D

We'll be there at least a week if not 10 days, I'm sure it'll be very enjoyable with or without bears. Just 1 of those things on my "I'd really, really like to do list". I have a couple different books advising where the best spots are at the best times etc, hopefully they are accurate. We are staying inside the park for 3 nights and then we have family about an hour from the park's east entrance which is where we'll be staying for the rest of the nights. I'd spend all 2 1/2 weeks at Yellowstone but there are other sites we'd (meaning wife/daughter) like to visit

Hmmm, sounds like Cody maybe? If you can get 'em up real early and out before sunrise when it's still cool you'll probably have the best luck with the wildlife. The best part is the crowds ('ceptin' other crazy photogs) will still be in bed! :D

Last time we went for 5 days and never saw a bear.

The time before that, we saw more than 30.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Just outside of Cody I guess, near Basin I think. And that is the plan--Early to bed, early to rise.

Got lucky to see 2 wolves of the Canyon pack howl and then meet up with a third member.

"I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack. But when my sister brought Doug home I knew he was one of my own. And my wolfpack, it grew by one. So there were two of us in the wolfpack. I was alone first in the pack and then Doug joined in later. And 6 months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys I thought, wait a second, could it be. And now I know for sure that I just added two guys to my wolfpack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together in Las Vegas looking for strippers and cocaine."

For some reason I couldn't help myself.
Great shots, i'm very jealous. Someday i'll make the trip to Yellowstone.

I hope so. The extent of my reach is a 300mm f/4 with a 1.4 TC attached, so about 420mm.

Have kind of been eyeing the new Sigma 50-500 though.........

Here are shots of the ones I've seen in June very near the road...certainly near enough for a 300 with a TC:

Beautiful shots of beautiful animals.

- I discovered I scream the same way whether I'm about to be devoured by a great white shark or if a piece of seaweed touches my foot.

Actually, June is a prime time to see Grizzlies from the road. And when we went last July, we had 8 Grizzly sightings in 5 days. It was early July - the first few days of the month.

The park is not like it used to be - there are far more Grizzlies than there were 5 or 10 years ago. June is an ideal time for Grizzly photography, as you can find some in snow, and then find some where there is no snow and the trees are beginning to leaf out. The differing conditions in various parts of the park at this time of the year can give you a chance to capture some real variety in your Grizzly photos.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

It's good news that the griz will still be within shooting range in June. I'll have to grin and bear it on an extra trip then. :D

I will be in the park starting May 12. Have a week to myself before I start working and a new 100-400 L to play with.

Look for me if you are at the OF VC.
