I bought a Yongnuo wireless remote for my 5D when I had it, it works with the 7D and I have used it many times without any issues. I think I paid like $20 for it. Only weird thing is for bulb exposures you have to hold the button down for like 3 seconds then it sets until you press again to end an exposure.

I still have a handul left, if you are curious, just check my signature. I like these and use them myself. I particularly like the 2 way verification and the AAA battery support, and the swappable cables is a nice touch. The last thing is that I can use the remote trigger's 2sec timer instead of switching the camera to timer mode between shots.

I bought a Phottix Cleon wireless radio remote for my 40D, and now use it with my 7D.

I also bought a $5 Canon "clone" RC-1 IR remote. The IR remote must be facing the camera for it to fire, but it does the job quite well. It has the added benefit of being able to start/stop the video. I believe only the IR remotes can do that.

Got the same - didn't work and the receiver got too hot to touch!

Emailed seller 3 times (from reputable (!) ebay shop - never aknowledged or answered email!

So obviously not too keen on it.

I have never had a Phottix Plato receiver get warm? That is strange. Usually the YongNuo is a knockoff of some other brand, so I would think the entire line would have an issue. Too bad the seller doesn't respond, I would leave bad feedback, that is not acceptable.

I have 2 Plato units left at this point.
