BH, Amazon, and Adorama all raised their price by $100 or more after the rebate took effect, so the rebate is useless at this point. They are still selling 50D for $999, in the last few weeks BH and Adorama had theirs at $929 and Amazon at $944. I know because I was in the process of purchasing one and watching prices, waiting for the rebate to take effect. Stupid me, I thought the price might actually go into the high $800 range.

Calumet is the only dealer I have seen online that actually applied the discount, they are still at $889.

I have been watching as well and thought the same thing when I saw the rebate come out on Sunday. I got worried as BH went up yesterday and the others had already raised their price. Beach also went from $929 to $999.

I pulled the trigger last night on a new 50d from Hotdigital on Ebay for $899 with $72 instant cash back and $27 back with Mr Rebate. Hot digital is the ebay name for Focus Camera which is an authorized reseller, based on what other forum members have told me.

I am happy with that deal.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been watching the prices very closely, was excited about the rebate, then sad when the retailers you mentioned just raised their price by $100....

If all goes as planned, the rebate and early price drop has helped me get the price down on a very low mileage 50d on craigslist with a local pickup. Supposed to meet him tonight.....

I'm like most of you, I figured the price would continue down.

Adorama monitors this board. Can't remember the reps screen name. But they need to read this thread. Of course they are free to charge whatever prices they want.

I don't know Focus. I'll look into them. THanks.
