Great shot, Tony. The RWBB can be tough to approach and tougher to expose properly.

Mike Rob and Stan thanks for the prompt response.

To Mike: How do you tell the difference between the male and the female RWBB?

Mike please forgive my momentary memory lapse. I sometimes forget that there is a place - the Internet - where there is no shortage of information overload.

"Male Red-winged Blackbirds are hard to mistake. They're an even glossy black with red-and-yellow shoulder badges. Females are crisply streaked and dark brownish overall, paler on the breast and often show a whitish eyebrow. " SOURCE: AllAboutBirds.org (external link)

Hi Tony. Many people have no idea what this bird is and simply can't place it as a female Red-winged Blackbird. But that's what this one is. Quite different from the male as you can see.

I probably saw the female but not no idea they were related. Thanks for the info.
