Kenko Pro 300 Vs. Kenko Pro 300DG/DGX

Tristate Camera has Pro 300 ($160) and Pro 300 DG ($200) TC's.
Are they the same optically and is the Pro 300 a non reporting TC?

On the Tristate site for the Pro 300 DG it says it has the IC chip for communication.

For the Pro 300 it does not say that it has it or not.

Yes,if the optics are the same I may go for the Pro 300 since I'm already used to a non reporting TC.
with the Tamron.I'm not unhappy with the Tamron but I would just like to see if the Kenko works better with my 300 f4 IS.

Kenko DG and Tamron SP are the same products. Kenko DGX has the same optics as Kenko DG but has correct EXIF reporting.

So if you already have Tamron SP, (white ones), nothing to gain in this case by switching to Kenko Pro DG. The regular Tamron (non white version) is the same as Kenko non-pro DG version. That would be an upgrade.
