First, a shoutout to all of the helpful comments in this thread:
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=847297

I've been crazily busy the last week so I'm behind on culling/editing/posting these, but they'll slowly but surely get added here:

Some info about the event:
It's called "Mystique" and it's an asian culture show run by students at The College of New Jersey. This is the first year I attended and it was a phenomenal show (I'm actually going to buy a DVD because I'd like to see the whole thing at least once as it's supposed to be seen (i.e. not through a viewfinder)). I have several friends in the show which is how I got the chance to go and shoot the event. I have the program in my car still if anyone is interested enough to want to know the specifics.

Quick note: I know there are a few of these that are horridly non-straight. Sometimes I left them this way to minimize cutting people off in odd places, other times I was just lazy about straightening. My bad!

And I'll include a few examples embedded too =)

Thanks again everyone, I had a blast doing this and most of that is because of the tons and tons of knowledge I've soaked up on this forum =)

Oh, and a shoutout to the 7D's AWB: Even under oft-strange stage lighting this camera performed like a real champ. Possibly something of a shame because it got me to be lazy about fixing slighty-off WB in some of the shots, but still I'm really impressed.

Not bad, love the last one. I think you nailed the very difficult exposure in that setting. Spot meter? or chimp?

Uhh, neither. "Wing it". I took a couple of shots while they were setting up (without the stage lighting), guessed at settings to set to my C1 and C2 slots (one short exposure time, one long), then I would default to one of those (usually C1, the quicker one) and play with the ISO, aperture and SS as I saw fit. I missed some great moments (a couple by just a fraction of a degree's worth of swivel), and they're not all keepers, but I am more than happy with the results and I still have easily a hundred more shots to put up, probably (hopefully) way more than that.

Edit: Technically I did chimp a little now that I think about it. Toward the beginning I got some shots with my settings I had guessed at then saw that I had some headroom to close the aperture a smidge. After that I just changed settings all willy nilly and kept my review timer set to "off" because they were recording the performance as well, so I only reviewed shots during scene transitions usually.
