So I was finally able to see it. I think she really thought they were someone else who was actually spying on her store (Dairy Queen.) She definitely snapped though, that's for sure. I didn't even bother watching to the end because you could tell it wasn't going to be anything different after a while.

This touches on a valid point. I didn't catch the Dairy Queen part, but if it was her business (i.e. private property) then she would be well within her rights to tell them to stop, and they should have stopped and/or left, rather than continue to taunt her. She would not be within her rights to demand they hand over their cameras, etc.

Be that as it may, she certainly was her own worst enemy. Legalities and reasonable social etiquette aside... by either side... she did nothing to help her own cause. She may indeed have a mental or emotional issue, but she's not a "people person", that's for sure.

I got the impression from some of the chat that the intended photography was of kids skateboarding (or something similar) on the property. That may have been taking place on private property and would, more than likely, be part of the problem.

There are a LOT of people running around with anger management issues. That lady probably beats on every living creature she can when in the privacy of her own home. Husband, kids, dog, etc. People like that are scary.

I teach kids, and anytime they get like that I calmly say, "we'll have this conversation when you've calmed down." The first thing they usually do at that point is scream as loud as they can, "I AM calmed down."

Okay then.

I then walk away. I'll never engage someone in conversation who yells at me. Won't happen.

Another teacher who I work with started yelling at me and I said, "I won't be able to continue this conversation while you yell." Of course, that made it worse, so she started yelling more. I then calmly said, "Let me know when you're ready to quit yelling." She stormed out of the room. I looked at the other teachers, shrugged my shoulders, and went back to my own classroom. Didn't phase me a bit. Yellers can go yell in a corner or something.

Thank you. bw!

The irony is that she has been seen ~200,000 on YouTube from the actions of those 'illegal photographers'.

She reminds me of Ms Crabtree from South park

I remember seeing this like 3 years ago. Here's some of the discussion that ensued back then...

If they were in the parking lot then they were essentially on private property. It was a Rite Aid and Burger King or something (although it looked like there were some chemical tanks with tall ladders in the background."

The parking lot of a business is private property, and they can actually tell you to leave or call the cops, etc.

If they want to film from a public area (the sidewalk, street, etc.) then they can.

Those kids were just illegal photoGRAPHers. ;)

Thank you. bw!

I was thinking it was more like five years ago. It was discussed and dismissed as unimportant then and it should be now...

Well, its obvious she has some issues. I'm surprised with all that yelling about photographers that she didn't catch the person taping her. Maybe video isn't do bad?

Whenever someone in your family brings up something that was on the news, even if you've already seen it, do you tell them that you don't care because you already saw it? Or do you add your opinion and have a conversation about it?

She's definitely either on something she needs to be off of, or off something she needs to be on.

I think they handled it pretty well overall...

Here here, I agree totally. This has been posted on every photography forum multiple times, including here. Old news that deserves to stay just that way.

Couldn't get past the first two minutes before getting tired of it. Maybe they were trespassing on private property (she did mention Dairy Queen)? Its possible, but who knows...maybe watching the clip through to the end would have provided more info, but I'm not betting on it.

No, it just provided a headache and invoked sadness in me. Sadness that people are generally misinformed about photographers. She is the exception...WHY?! Well, because I believe she has a serious mental illness...but this goes back to what I said previously...people are terribly misinformed about the law and photography.

People should only freak out if you're photographing their kids in the park or something without their permission...That's the only time I think a camera should freak people out.

Funny how most things get better when I kick 'em...
