Recommendation needed for rechargable AA batteries

I have the Canon SX110 IS. It takes AAs of course, and there's a huge difference in battery longevity with this camera. Given the right rechargeables I can get 300 shots. With standard alcaline and other weak rechargeables, I can only get about fifty.

I don't know anything about rechargeable batteries. The camera takes two. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Thank you. bw!

No idea about use in P&S cameras but for external flash every body always recommends Sanyo Eneloop batteries. They do not lose charge while sitting on a shelf the way normal rechargables do.

Look into the sanyo eneloop batteries. They have a very low discharge rate so they can sit a while without losing charge. They hold a charge very well and provide good uptime for electronics.

Here's a good charger.

Also batteries, some like the Eneloops or these.

The charger makes a big difference, keeps the batteries working longer, just stay away from those 15 min chargers, kinda of destroy batteries in turn for faster charging.

Been using rechargeable for years and no problems. :)

In my flash units I use Duracell 2650 mAh rechargeables and use a fast 15 minute charger. They charge fast and last as long as traditional AAs. There is some drain if they're left sitting so I always charge the day before or same day as I will be using them. I have 24 of these and they've been recharged hundreds of times and keep pumping out power.

If I was to use rechargeables in a camera body that might sit for a period between uses I'd consider pre-charged AAs. The Duracells are supposed to maintain the initial charge for 1 year and suffer no leakage. Can't comment though as I haven't used them.

These are the ones to have in my book. They are available at Costco with chargers at good prices,

I have used the MAHA batteries suggested by robscomputer but have switched to eneloops.

I have been quite happy with Thomas Distributing though.

Ray-O-Vac makes a nice hybrid that has a decently high MAh rating and doesn't lose it's charge as quick as the NIMH batteries. They take 2 hours to charge unlike the 15 minute Duracells and Energizers, but charging them slower allows them to last longer (life span) too. I can't remember the model, but they're labeled as "Hybrid" They worked great in my SX10 IS and kept the charge much longer than my Energizer 2500 MAh batteries when not in use.

If you need the most capacity then Maha Powerex 2700mah are recommended.
If you need low discharge while not being used, then you can't go past the Maha Imedions.

Another vote for the Eneloops. I bought a whole set/kit at CostCo for a great price.

Sanyo Eneloops all the way.

BTW, the link that robscomputer has posted below is an excellent price. It looks like the sale ends on April 30, although they tend to run this sale every now and then.

Sanyo Eneloops are the best.

If you watch Amazon you can get a big kit of 8 AA, 2 AAA, 2 C, 2D + big charger for like 25 bucks.

Add me to the list of Eneloop users. I love mine and the hold their charges well. The only thing that sucks is my family keeps borrowing them and I never get them back. Now I hide them an only borrow them in emergencies, lol.

Ditto on this, along with charger from Thomas Distributing.

These are some of the most powerful, and will give you the biggest bang for the job, but really need to be charged "close" to the job. The eneelops are a bit less powerful, but have superior shelf life/longevity, just sitting around. They lose charge at a slower rate than the more powerful Powerex 2700mah.
