Here is a picture of my grandson on his first Easter. (It looks a bit orangy on my monitor here at work). Still practicing and appreciate any C&C. Thank you for looking :)

Looks like a great shot. A bit small to really see any problems with it though...

Thank you. If anyone would like to edit it to make it pop more I would love to see it.

Easter is full of spring colors perhaps your background could be a different color to liven it up.

Here's a quick edit.

I did a levels and curves adjustment, then contrast boost usm (10% @ 150 pix) selected eyes and nostrils, push control j, and did selective sharpen (usm 130% @ 0.3 pix), then set the layer to "overlay" and used a high pass filter at 1.0.

He is ADORABLE!! From what I can see his sleeve and shoulder seem a bit more in focus than his face. Do you use a single focus point? what aperture were you at? you might do better stopping down a touch.

Your edit looks great, thank you! Your PS skills are way too advanced for me just yet. I only know some basic things in PS but have so much to learn. Thank you for your help.

Yes I did notice the out of focus sleeve and pants on his right. (UGH!). I definitely should have stopped down. Thank you. When you say "single focus point", since I'm a newbie, what exactly do you mean by that?

Your camera by default will have a 'pattern' of focus points, you can change that so that the user chooses a single focus point (usually just the center point) that you would then focus on the eyes in a shot like this to make sure they are in focus

There are a lot of resources on here to learn about photography. The net also is full of photoshop tips and there are many good books dealing with post processing. The big thing is to keep on practicing and honing your skills. This is the most important aspect in my opinion.
