Alright, I’m on a very limited budget. I can’t really go over $230 with this.

I was thinking of picking up 2 Yongnuo flashes to use off-camera along with my 430EX II which I already own. I'm just wanting everything to be wireless so that I can shoot from any angle without having to worry about pulling something.

Can anyone explain to me how this would work, and advise me on what I should get to pull this off? Also, will the Yongnuo wireless system be compatible with both Yongnuo's flashes AND my 430EX II?

Some help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I am in the same boat as you. I have a 430EX II as well and just ordered 2 YN-460 II flashes, 2 RF602 transmitters and 3 Rx. Got this all for just under $160 off ebay. I am wondering what type of umbrella/softbox combo to buy and maybe use the third light as a hairlight or throw both YN flashes into a softbox. I am thinking of getting the Impact Lighting dual umbrella set from BH for about $100 (unless others suggest something else). If so, that'll put my at about $260 total.

Bump?

Oh, just for note-- I'm aiming for everything to be wireless. So when my T1i goes off, so do the flashes.

seems all youre missing are the rf 602s...and umbrellas and whatnot if you want to get into that stuff already but they arent essential yet.

so yea, once you get a transmitter and 3 receivers(for each of your flashes) youll be good to go.

set all of them on manual, pop them into the receivers, pop the transmitter onto your hotshoe, and start shooting. easy as that :)

Alright, so what I have down at this point...

I need:

*Canon 430EX II
*Yongnuo YN-460 II (x2)
*Yongnuo RF-602 (this is the transmitter, right?)

-- any suggestions on what Yongnuo receiver I should get that will work with the RF-602?

Updated list:

YN-460 II x2 - $120
RF-602 Wireless Shutter Release (Transmitter + 1 Receiver) - $40.99
YN-04 II Flash Trigger (Receiver) - $40.99
Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Flash_Umbrella_Mount.html (external link) - $98.95

Total: $300.98 + Shipping.

Lol, I can go a little over, but yeah... $300.98 + shipping = $400 right there, LOL.

rf602 is the set of a trigger and X amount of receivers depending on how many you want, not just a transmitter thus you do not need nor should stray away from the rf602 receivers . http://cgi.ebay.com …motes?hash=item335b2908e9 (external link) . That is the ebay link for 1 transmitter and 3 receivers (one for each flash) so just buy through there at $70.99 with free shipping. With this you will be good.

hope that clears things up. If it doesnt feel free to ask :)

edit: and as far as the flashes go, look on ebay for the many sellers with free shipping...save mad money:p

The RF-602 system is the way to go with any budget.. Well built and incredibly reliable,,I've never had a misfire using these.. Are you aware you won't have any kind of ETTL?? No biggy, once you get used to your flash on manual it's easy to determine exposure by chimping.. If you want to spend the extra bucks get a flash exposure meter..

I've bought two sets of RF-602 off these guys through eBay in the last six months.. Great to deal with and never a problem..

Edit - Buy a couple of sets of Eneloop AAA rechargables for the receivers..

Currently I have a 580ex II and a 430 EX. The 580-master 430-slave.

I would like to add a couple more lights. maybe 2 - Yongnuo YN-460 II's.

Do I need 2 receivers for the Yongnuos? Is it recommended that I get the Transmit/receivers?

Thank you.

You'll need a transmitter and a receiver for each flash INCLUDING the 580 and 430. You can't really mix the Canon wireless system and manual flashes (well, you can. But it can be a bit fiddly and to be honest, very rarely worth bothering with).
