Anyone had any luck?

A while back, I stupidly bought a UDMA card. It was cheap as dirt, so I figured why not. I did have a thread back not too long after I purchased it, with some problems.....and trying to figure out what to do.

Turns out, apparently the card was bad from day 1. After purchasing a UDMA reader, I put the card in (it was full), and went to rip my pictures. I kept getting errors, and figured it was the reader. I emailed the company about the reader.....and they quickly sent me another. Turns out it wasn't the reader.....it is the card. On top of that, I left the card in the reader for a couple hours. I began to smell something.....it was the card, cooking. It turned the white sticking on the back of the card, a nice yellow color.....big circle.

So this card has been sitting for a while now, I just get ill every time I see it. I never thought of sticking the card back into the camera, and using the USB cable....until now. I downloaded ImageRescue3, and plugged in the camera. I've never used the USB cable before. When I do this, the quartz display on the top of my 30D says "busy".....flashing. I figured it should read after a few seconds.....but nothing happens.

Am I SOL or what?

If the card got hot enough to discolor the label, you can almost be certain that the card is defective. I don't think there will be any way to get the images off...

I agree with the others, that card is donald.

Like hard drives, if I ever have a memory card that starts misbehaving I immediately get the data from it and chuck it in the bin. They never get better, only worse; until the day you lose data permanently.

The card didn't catch fire or anything.....it just got really hot. Actually it got hot even the first time I played with the card trying to rip the pictures off of it.

It is still getting hot quick.....I was just wishing there was some hope for it. Guess I am SOL.
