I bought the new Burton Zoom Pack 28l for $134 i believe off the Burton website. I've had it for about two months now and i honestly have to say i really like it a lot. I can not think of a thing i dislike about the bag at all. My favorite part about it is that it doesn't look ANYTHING like a camera bag, more like a boxy backpack which is important to me (although i am in the middle of nowhere upstate NY for college i live in lower NY(literally across the street from the Bronx border line). So not getting my sh*t stolen is a little less of a concern with this bag when i am on the subways and whatnot. It also zips from the back so things are really secure :D

Anyway, the backpack is relatively attractive, in my opinion, compared to other more ugly camera bags ive seen.

On the face is the laptop pocket and another open pocket the front of it.

Has pockets on both sides that tripod legs can be slid into that run down the entire side of the bag. Also on one side there is a HUGE beverage mesh pocket and on the other side a large cylindrical zippered pocket.

Although i do not have the biggest, most amazing, or immensely high tech gear i do have enough stuff to lug around when i go shooting. This bag has PLENTY of room for whatever you can think of(which is why the 2 telephotos are on their sides, could have stood them up).

The removable camera block also has a zipper to close it (slows you down a little to unzip but that 2 seconds shouldnt kill your shooting opportunity)
dont want to take up the entire page with these photos so here are the links:

http://i414.photobucket.com …20zoom/camerablockout.jpg (external link)

There are also two pockets at the top of the bag for more storage:
one is smaller and fuzzy inside, good for keeping batteries in for warmth:

The other is not but it is bigger and great for essentials. It also comes with a velcrowed removable case with the same fuzzy lining as the other pocket:

Something that really determined my purchase was that it could fit a laptop. THIS WAS ESSENTIAL FOR ME! This bag fit it with some room to spare once closed(fit bigger laptops in...no idea how, its like magic)

Anyway I do highly recommend this backpack to anyone. It is comfortable, not too pricey, well waterproofed(since its designed to be a snowboarder/photographer pack), and has ample storage. It really is a great and well made bag and would be great for any photographer.

Photo wearing it.

It's down to this or the Fastpack 250 for me. my concern with this is the size. I'm a small dude, 5'6" so I'm afraid this may be too big for me.

How's the pack size for carrying around gear for long periods of time? Can't tell how far it sticks out in the photo off your back as it's too dark unfortunately. I need to get a new bag before a trip to China for two weeks and I've narrowed down to this or the Dakine Sequence and I believe the Sequence is just a little bit smaller than this one.

There used to be Canon gear here but it disappeared.

the sequence is a little smaller. the burton is about 8.5 inches deep. i chose this over the sequence for carrying around a laptop. I personally have found it very comfortable, even over extended periods of time i cant recall ever having to take it off due to discomfort

i've been meaning to ask, and no one has brought it up yet... whats with bin ladden in the last image

haha its on an obama poster wear he has his right arm lifted so me and my roommate printed out pictures of bin ladden, stalin, hitler, mussolini, a few other evil historical men, and out other roommate with similar poses to screw with him(he talks about obama like he is the messiah so we thought it would be funny. it's all just fun and games ;)

Thanks for the review...looks like a great bag...however, I'm kind of concerned about the location of the laptop pouch...doesn't seem to offer much protection (at least not as much as a Lowepro CompuTrekker AW+) against theft or bumps and bruises...opinions?

its got some padding in it(thin but some). i personally have carried my laptop around in it throughout manhattan and brooklyn on the subways all day and have never had a problem...smacked into plenty of things and everything is still all good. if youre worried about theft throw a luggage lock on it ;)

Quick question. Can you flip it around and open it while still strapped around the waist like the Flipside?

still cant figure out why that is such a priority for people lol... but i dont believe it was designed to do so. I suppose if you tried hard enough anything is possible but because it zips from the back, then you have to unzip the camera block(unless you leave it unzipped thus only having to unzip the bag itself, its pretty awkward... but once again i havnt tried it. i can when i get home if youd like

update to everyone: the beard has grown quite a bit but is still a gross patchy mess hahahahhaa think its gotta go soon

No, if it's that complicated it isn't quite designed for it.

The reason is simple for wanting to have it. Let's say you're standing in a swamp and need to change a lens :D

Well a little crafty work of taking the lens out of the bag, slipping it into a jacket or sweatshirt pocket, closing the bag, swapping the lens, then putting it back into the bag seems pretty simple in reality (through type it sounds like a mess haha)...Or if thats the case and you anticipate needing another lens to switch you can temporarily hold it in the upper pocket as long as its not a beast of a lens:p
