I already have the flashes and triggers covered. I wanted to invest in my first strobist kit and wanted to see what ppl thought of these 2 ideas:

1.) Cheap route and buy the Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit from BH @ $100
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ails&Q=&sku=425220&is=REG (external link)

2.) Build my own kit with a softbox with the items described below:

Softbox- Westcott Apollo 28"- $120
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …stDetail&Q=&li=3288D1C932 (external link)

Umbrella- Photoflex Convertible Umbrella - White Satin with Removable Black Backing - 45"- $30

Stands- 2 Impact Air-Cushioned Heavy Duty Light Stand - Black, 9.5'- $80 for 2

Brackets- 2 Impact UMBRELLA SHOE MOUNT MULTI CLAMP- $30 for 2

Option 2 comes out to about $260. Does this sound like a good setup and does it include everything I will need for a basic strobist setup? Would this be worth the extra $160? Any suggestions on what to buy/not to buy with what I listed? I know all these products have great reviews on BH but wanted to get some personal opinions on these 2 options. Thanks!

For option 2, why not just get Impact 2 light kit? 2 stands, 2 brackets, and 2 umbrellas for $99? Or I am reading your post wrong?
