I do not have insider knowledge of Pixel. I think that the TR-332 is as it is, and a buying decision should be made on present features.

A warning: Changing Channels - fault.

After setting a channel other than the default, the Knights retain the channel you selected but on power-up display the default channel of 01. They will communicate ok, but can mislead the user into making non-matching channel assignments.

The review has been merged into a pdf, which has a number of corrections and additions.

The current version of the Review and Guide is available here. (external link)

Quick question
On their ebay site they post versions for 50D/40D and another auction for Canon 450/500D and another one for 5D/5dII
Is this so, a per camera series based product (firmware maybe) or just a way to market and target possible buyers?

It's the same unit in each offering, I understand. I think that they are trying to ensure that only compatible-body owners make a purchase. Saves handling returns on inappropriate purchases, yet does not present a big list of compatibles to put readers off.

I am uneasy about the 5D classic listing. It does not have the right level of Digic processor, and there has been a report of problems with it.

Well I received my Pixel Set today, bought from eBay for £111.00.....did quite a bit of testing today, Using Canon 50D, 5D2, 580exII and 430ex.
I only have one receiver so i can only comment on a basic ETTL and HSS use. In over 100 shots today I didn't have a single misfire. :):) I tested indoors upto 20 metres and outdoors upto 75metres. Stable ETTL and HSS..:) I am a happy camper...These look like a real alternative to the flex TT5's for reliable ettl triggering.

Just remembered, a couple of points. Using the triggers really drains your camera battery quickly, the trigger wouldn't work on my 400D, and I had to activate the 5D mode work on the 5D2, although once activated the trigger would work on my 50D as normal. Also the flash exposure lock on camera doesn't work, using it makes the flash fire at full power/dump. Flash exposure compensation from camera worked with no porblems and the units automatically switched to HSS when you used a faster shutter speed.

I will be ordering a second reciver soon, to mainly enable really quick cross-lighting in a wedding enviroment.

Pictures attached.

Yes, but those I know of are under non-disclosure agreements. I have been bouncing my test results off one such, with great benefit.

A google search brings up other sites, but nothing substantial. Perhaps due to the regular reviewers having to actually PAY for their samples!

I've just got my set. I did some tests with my 5DII and 580EXII and I can confirm CliveyBoy's conclusions.
The systems seems to be quite reliable. For ~50 shots, I had no misfire. 3 frames came out overexposed due to flash firing at full power though (I always obeyed the one second pause CliveyBoy discussed).
FEC and HSS work fine and so do manual power settings for groups.
When I first connected the triggers I experienced the flash firing by itself while I was playing with camera controls a couple of times, but after I reconnected the set I didn't see it happening again.
Modelling light works, but requires 2 or 3 button pressures. Not really annoying since I don't use it anyway.
AF assist beam behaves strangely, there's a 2-3 second delay between following 1/2 shutter and sometimes it won't come out at all. Could anybody confirm it is a regular behaviour of this unit?
Despite all the listed flaws, I don't regret buying my Pixels. I got them for their HSS and ETTL capabilities and they didn't fail my expectations in that field.

Yes, that sounds like the same as my testing, I did get the random fires when I tried them on my 400D, so just put that down to the old Digic engine..?? The focus assist seems like yours - a bit random, although I haven't found a great need for this feature..as with your findings, I am still getting reliable ETTL and HSS with both my 50D and my 5D2..:):)

Are you using a single set, or do you have multiple recievers.?

Hello, tomdz, and thanks for observations. :)

I have been re-testing the modelling light, AF-Assist, and FE Lock (*). They all seem unpredictable.

FEL is probably significant, as many photogs use it. Normally, FEL fires a test exposure and holds the results for 16 seconds or until full-shutter. The TR-332 fires a test exposure and the camera holds the results - every second press of (*). But it never fires an exposure flash. I tried with and without half-shutter active. It seems that Pixel tried but did not get the logic working.

I got a set of the Trigger. Work prefer on the Canon 550D. Will not work on Canon 1D MK IV. On 5D MKII will only work 1/200 sec. I do not know why and I set trigger to 5D mode and my shutter speed can only goto 1/200sec is the highest shutter speed and cannot go high. Is anyone have that problem on the 5D MK II? I email the Pixel Technical support and just receive email once and did not answer my questions at all.
