I have never touched an xs, I use my d20. But a friend of mine just got a xs and wants to know how to control BOTH aperture and shutter speed (maybe even ISO too) all at the same time, under one setting.
Is this possoble with the xs? I can do it with M on my 20d, but I use the command dial and the dial near the trigger.
My friend didn't get a manual with their xs (was a gift)
thanks in advanced!
Parker

the XS has a manual mode. So switch the dial to M

Now the dial near the shutter button controls the shutter speed and if you hold the AV[+/-] button (just to the bottom right of the viewfinder) with your thumb then scrolling that same dial changes the aperture. To change ISO, there is a specific button for that right by the shutter button. It's really pretty easy and intuitive with a little practice.

Also, the XS manual can be freely downloaded from Canon USA website. I would recommend your friend download and read it.
