Since it's a pic of my wife, I guess it should go in the people section.
But what I really wanted to know what you guys think of this.
I'm new to this and I'm experimenting.

Cheers for looking.

Blair-

I am no expert and it seems I know what I should do but just have trouble performing. So take this for what it is, a novice reply.

First off, very pretty lady. Congrats.

Here are a few things I might consider next time:
1) The crop is very close which isnt a problem except her hand is coming from no where which is a little off kilter.
2) In a portrait, eyes are key. Sunglasses although are cool and are needed in regular life, dont really work in a portrait if it isnt adding to the scene or what your going for. I would have preferred to see her eyes.
3) There isnt a lot of separation between her hair color and the background. A light or reflector from behind would have helped separate her from the nice background blur you have.

It does seem sharp enough and thats a good thing. Keep at it, I am sure the pros will come in and lend a hand.

Was this shot with the nifty fifty?

Cheers for the advice.
Yeah, it's not really a portrait. I was playing with some layers in Photoshop and I think this makes the image look really good and I had some doubts weather it looked a bit dark or too over done.
And yes, shot with the nifty fifty. My favorite lens at the moment.
I'll try with another image tonight and see how it looks.
Thanks for input.

Don't know if there was much separation between the hair and the background before, but there isn't now. I would suggest using the self healing brush and removing some of the blemishes. This will improve the overall look without blurring the skin.

Ok that shot probably wasn't the best example to try this out on.
So here is one of my good friend's little boy, with my PP done to it.

This baby looks very blue. Is that your intent?

Yeah, looks like some blue eye shadow. I would delete that layer. Colors are nice on the first one.
