Yeah... looks like 3M Di-Noc CA421 Black Carbon Fiber... I just applied it on my lens hood and looks very nice. Easy to apply as it stretches with heat and adapts to curved forms...

I found this page

http://www.carbonfibergear.com …di-noc-carbon-fiber-vinyl (external link)

Hope it helps

These guys will do overlays or make a complete CF hood.

Those look like they are real carbon fiber, im sure they just made a mold of an original hood and then made it of fiberglass with carbon overlay.

Yeah it kinda looks like a real CF wrap. Easy enough to have it wrapped and clear coated.

But why on earth would you spend money on carbon fibre looking lens hoods? I can“t see any good reason for doing this. Sorry about being a downer, but pimping a lens hood is just way beyond me.

It looks cool and current. I really don`t mind doing it on my L lens or the 85 1.8 hoods.

This CF hood will have different appeal on older stiff photographers. For cool and young one`s it`s great!

Now we all know by their comments who is who? LOL!

BTW: I`m talking about d.allan carbon fiber type he has, I like it very much. But the OP sample picture of the carbon fiber is a bit shiny for my taste.

I googled "JDP lens hoods" and came up with a link to the company that makes carbon-fiber car hoods. Apparently this company provided these for the photog too?

If you thought Canon lens hoods were too expensive....

I don't really like the carbon fiber look, its either the real thing or none at all for me. Wonder how much the Infinity Carbon guys would charge to do a one off hood? I bet it will cost at least a couple hundred for one?

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I wrote an email to JDP Engineering and asked them how much it would cost to make a carbon fiber lens hood like the one shown on Flickr. We will see what kind of price we are looking at. If its around a $100.00-$150.00 I may get a few for my lenses. http://www.flickriver.com/photos/d_almero/4320198848/ (external link)
