Another new one for me, which is always exciting. Taken along Scrub Jay Trail in the Merritt Island Nature Reserve.

Nice series! #3 is a superb shot, love the leg postions. Are these Jays as musical as the Blue Jays here in the midwest? Just wonder.

Thanks! We saw about half a dozen of them and they seemed to be quieter than our Blue Jays...they are however just as tame and will readily take peanuts from the hand.

Very pretty shots, Scott. I like #1 a lot because of the framing by the branches, which makes for a nice composition. I also like the clarity in that one. But good shooting all round.

A scrub jay along Scrub Jay Trail? Who would have thunk it?

Good shooting, buddy, and congrats on another first. The over the shoulder pose of #2 rocks. Way to go, Scott.

Shooting with more great Canon gear than I deserve.
I don't need a second childhood. I'm not finished yet with the first one.

Very nice series. They look a little cross between a Clark's nutcracker (camp robber) and a Steller's jay. There is a western Scrub Jay, but I have never seen one. Shot #3 is really good.

Thanks Mark. They are Florida's only endemic bird and similar to the Western Scrub Jay. Unfortunately their numbers are in decline with approximately 8000 adults alive today (down some 30% since 1993) according to one source I read.
