Hello,
I have both Canon 40D and 5D (classic). I need an ultra wide lens. I have to choose between Canon EFS 10-22, Tokina 11-16 (on 40D), or Canon 17-40 (on Canon 5D). Any advice are welcome. Thanks.

PS. Note that i came from Romania, so money is an important thing for me. I'm interested about the best quality/price ratio.

17-40L. I've used the lens on both a 5D and a 7D and it's great on both. The others can't be used on the 5D. ( 11-16 can but only at 15-16mm). If you are fine with that and need f/2.8 then it's a great lens.

If wide angle & quality are your two goals, get any wide angle decent lens for the 5D, forget the poll and opinion results, and be happy.

For wide angle photography, a decent wide angle lens on a larger sensor will yield better quality images than a shorter focal length lens on a smaller sensor shooting the same scene.
Optical compromises result making very short focal length ultra wide angle lenses for APS-C sensors, with very low optical magnification, having reduced resolving power. This has been shown over and over again in images, and in various amateur web comparisons:

The opposite would be true under telephoto or macro situation, where pixel density makes a difference.
