I am not saying that limited edition prints are dead, but rather asking that if anybody who has experience with LE prints can shed any light on the following.
I had a meeting today with a large commercial supplier of art. (They sell to hotel/motel chains, restaurant chains, hospitals, etc.). During our conversation, I was told that limited edition prints have lost popularity and are out of favor right now.
Understand this would not be limited to photography. Their LE sales would also include original paintings that have been scanned, and LE prints made from them. Understanding that, I asked about photography and was told that LE prints, across the board, have fallen out of popularity.
I'm wondering if anybody has read any blogs, magazine articles, etc. recently along these lines recently and can shed additional light.
(As a side note, there is good news: I mentioned this in another thread, but thought I would quickly mention it here. This rep also stated that over the last year or so, there has been surge of popularity in traditional photography.)
