I was mucking about yesterday with my favorite test subject and my new 17-40L.

It's a very good thing he's patient, as it took me some time to get him posed *just right*, he's a St. Bernard mix, so I had to stop a few times to wipe off the drool accumulation. (I swaer, it's an industrial bonding agent!)

Anyhoo, enjoy, and as always, any feedback or constructive critique is very welcome.

Very nice looking dog and good captures. Just a question but were you using autofocus? His neck fur seems to be in better focus than his muzzle in the second photo.

Stephen - I see what you mean. No on the auto-focus, more likely cause was that I shifted slightly during the shot. *oops* Teaches me to use a 'pod when possible, or at least ensure my footing.

Thanks for the reply!
