muddy colors

What can cause muddy colors on my inflight shots and sometimes a blue line around the bird? Shots were middle of the day .. bright sun.

Improper WB, CA, Dirty Filter ?

As babel_fish mention white balance can play in but also other factors. If you're shooting RAW files you can expect the colors will need a boost in post process. It would be nice to see an example to better address the issues.

The blue fringing is a result of chromatic aberration, always most visible around highlights. Multiple elements used in higher end lenses help to correct this greatly but at price of course.
