Do you think my Xsi with a Tamron 18-270 attached would fit?

Would I also be able to get the 50mm 1.8 and the 430exII in there with it?

Trying to decide what size I need.
Thanks!

Welcome to POTN!

I own a 5 MDH, so I might be able to help you out. If you'll take a measurement of your Xsi with Tamron attached, I'll let you know if it will fit. (I just need the length)

Length from the back of the camera to the tip of the lens is about 7.5 inches.

Thanks!

I think it'll fit just fine, including the 50 and the flash.

but I think you'll do better with the 6md, in case you would wanna add a 10-22.

Thanks for the input. Is the 6 mil big to carry around? I don't want to lug around something too huge.

Anyone know the outer measurements of these two? I am not finding the info on their site.

I just measured my 5 MDH and your body/lens combo will fit, but the lid will be 'bulging' when the top is closed. It would work, but it would not be ideal. Your 50 1.8 and 480 EX II would fit, but there would not be room for anything else.

As requested, I just measured the external dimensions of my 5 MDH and they are:
8.25 inches tall
11 inches wide
6.5 inches deep

I don't own a 6 MDH, but I do have a 7 MDH. Perhaps it will give you an idea of where the 6 MDH falls in the line-up. The 7 MDH external dimensions are:
10 inches tall
14.75 inches wide
8 inches deep

If I were you, I'd definitely go with the 6 MDH.

Hope this helps,
Bryan

actually there's room for you.

I have a T1i with a 17-55 IS

I also have a 430EX stuffed in the 2nd pocket. The 50/1.8 should fit next to it becaquse I have a 28/1.8 stuck in the extra space left by the 430EX2. Additionally I can stick a 55-250 on top of my 28/1.8 since these primes are so short. Basically a skinny small lens would fit there like the 18-55 kit, but my 17-55 already covers that focal length.

I think you can fit it no problem with room for something small like a P&S. and some extras too.

A lot of people underestimate the 5MDH, but they're absolutely right that the 6MDH will fit everything better. I kinda wish I had one instead, but it's not like you can't get around with the 5MDH.

I have the 5 mdh and can fit my 50d with 200 2.8 attached.

I usually pack the 200 and 30 unattached and then the 85 attached, but can really have any of my lenses attached. I put the flash in the front pouch and then am set to go. If I know I'm going to be indoors, then it gets even better as I leave the 200 at home and pack the flash where the 200 would normally go.

I was actually walking around NYC with my 5MDH yesterday. I had a XSi + battery grip, Sigma 17-70mm OS lens attached, and my 430ex II :) There should be just enough room for the 50mm in there.

Folks, well it fit? Yes. But at 7.5 inches from the back of the camera to the front of the lens, it will be 'bulging' against the top. Kind of like putting a 70-200 2.8 in the older style 7 MDH...it closes, but is somewhat awkward.

Check reviews. If that's all you should be able to fit it all with the camera and lens sideways
