The zoom ring on my Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC has stripped, I see Tamron offers repairs via ups/fedex can anyone take an educated guess on what this i going to cost me?

The 28-300 was a really poor lens when I owned it for about a week. Soft at both extremes, and a CA monster. The VC worked really well though. Rule books are paper they will not cushion a sudden meeting of stone and metal -ekg-
