Jackie,

Did you use any macro filters? How far away from the subject area did you take these shots?

i used the tiffen macro filters - +1, +2, +4. I would guess I was about 3-4 inches away from subjects. I use the 58mm adapter with the filters, only because I have had the filters for years and use them also with my Canon EOS Rebel. The 58mm adapter does mess with the AF beam, so I have to use manual focus, get it the best I can, and then I actually move the camera slightly closer or away to get the focus sharp. I am not sure exactly where the wide/telephoto was set, because I was also moving that through out to adjust framing. I think it would be much easier with 52mm adapter, but all of the equipment I have from my other camera is 58, so I think I may get quite good at using the manual focus on my G3.

BTW, I had all 3 filters on the camera.

Very nice indeed! That mint looks tasty!

Something I do when the AF beam needs help is to use a pocket flashlight to illuminate the object.
Then, I half-press, select MF to lock in the focus, then let go of the shutter so you can retake the pic at proper exposure. Then I turn off the flashlight, and retake the pic.

I love your flower macro's...inspired me to go and find some nice gardens (not at my house alas :( ).

Would you mind taking a look at my macro...I used a film SLR 50mm lens in reverse, hand held at the front of my new G3 (first digital camera yay)

That is a wonderful macro. I only hope I can take some that good some day! You have inspired me to find some bugs this summer.

I have some macros I took with my SLR, too. I will have to get them scanned and up. Although I have never mounted the lens in reverse to take one. I will have to try that some day too.
