So as many of you know, I attended the sportsshooter academy in southern California this past week and I wanted to share some of my week's work with you. Thanks..

LOVE #5!!!! Awesome!

#4, it's not easy to tell what she's doing. I can guess some kind of long jump based on the track shoes. First glance I'd say she was on a trampoline. Just need to see the ground a bit more I think.

Excellent shots... and also not a bad surf shot for someone from St Louis :).

Were you able to use your Canon gear or did you use their Nikon gear?

I used my gear 99% of the time. I used the nikon for the surfing.

Thanks Bill. I appreciate it. I will say, it is partially because of you that I even got to do this. So thank you for that.

The hurdles shot is great... if only there weren't people standing up in the lane to the right of center.

To be honest, I don't like half of them. But other half is quite ok, with #5 being really great. #1 is nice one, but it's pretty much typical stock work. #5 can't get any better, so you can get only congratulations from me for this one. And #6 is nice one too. I can't help it, but I somehow don't like other 3 photos. Surfing and long jump are not caught in right moment (at least for me), and not tight enough crop, and that portrait in #2 is nothing special... just portrait.
But as I wrote... when you see #5 nothing else matters. So good job! :)

Love the expression on 2. 3 and 4 are excellent peak shots. 5 is just amazing. Excellent work!

All are well done Dave, but #5 is in a class by itself! Nice job. And how dare you use the "N" word !

Dave - The hurdle shot is excellent, one of the best I have seen around here in a long time.

Like the others, the hurdle shot is my favorite. Did the other Academy Cadets try that shot too?

I saw a similar view at the Olympics...

But I like yours better because you crisply captured the event location with the text on the hurdle. I think that would improve the Beijing Olympic picture 1000%.

I'd love to see the hurdler's eyes.

Great use of DoF.

This is the other classic motion blur shot that I want to try if I ever do a track and field event...

The softball player with the blood-red contacts creeps me out. Is that the intended purpose or is that for some sort of sunglasses function?
