A lot of people think Im a jerk, and Ill admit that at times in the past I probably have been a bona fide jerk, but I really just try to give people an honest, straightforward opinion that will help them improve. I tend to adhere to the view that there is always room for improvement in pictures. Ill applaud anyone once they show growth, but I would be sure to remind them that there is always more they can do to keep improving their skills. Thats how I would hope people would treat me, so thats how I treat people.

I have to agree with Adam.

I see nothing compelling on any of them but #5.

#5 really stands out from the rest of them.

Even with the baseball thread I don't see anything really different that you couldn't have gotten beforehand, except a bit tighter crops (and that part of the workshop was on SS.com with Matt giving advice to someone a couple years ago :) ). It's one thing that sucks about pro ball compared to say college, high school, youth - in pro you're often stuck in certain areas you have to shoot from as they don't want you in the way of others. One reason I loved shooting for the colleges this past spring so much, freedom to do what I wanted and try different angles and such - actually shooting the game/scenes/etc. and not stock. Unfortunately though when it comes to stock photography your focus is getting as much as possible (which is like shooting for print sales as well), not very creative on the crops because the editors want to do that to fit their needs or space.

Dave,

Congrats on your SSA completion. I have to agree with the others and say that #5 is my favorite from this set and the others really are part of your existing skill set. I am sure that you will really see the benefits of the Academy in the coming weeks, months, and years as you put the things you learned through the paces, fine tune them, and bring them all together into a comprehensive package that refines your personal style.

Truly excellent work. Hope you don't mind if I try to copy that hurdles shot, both of them.
