[This is more or less troll or rant, but there are some facts behind it...]
I started with digital IXUS on fall 2000, upgraded to G3 on fall 2002 and from there to EOS 20D on fall 2004. I love the things that dSLR can give in regarding fast AF, ability to use high ISO values with relatively low noise level, etc., but I really hate dust on sensor...
During first couple months, I used Hama's air blower to keep sensor clean, but I quickly grew tired of it, since it didn't seem to do really good job, even though its more or less same size as that Rocket blower that many people seem to love.
Then I came across with set of instructions, how you can clean your sensor with brushes (http://194.100.88.243 …/a_Brush_Your_Sensor.html (external link)). That made things look so simple, so I went and bought couple brushes. I guess my problem in that method was that I wanted to use my rocket blower instead of canned air for charghing the brush, because at first I always manage to pile all the dust into clusters.
On my third time with this method (May, 2005), I managed to get some grease or oil from shutter into my brush and from brush to sensor (well, actually to the glass on top of sensor, but ...). I panicked, threw my brushes to garbage and quickly carried my camera to local Canon dealer for cleaning. I was happy to pay their cleaning fee at the time, since it allowed me to get back to shooting pictures.
Its been almost two months since that. During that time, I spent two weeks on vacation trip (during which time, I spent one week on hiking trip with tent, etc.) and one wedding. While I am getting ready to leave for next vacation trip, I wanted to check, how much dust I have on sensor. At first, there seemed to be one relatively large and visible dusty spot

30 minutes later I've managed to move dust around sensor and situation seems to be getting worse instead of improving.

I guess I'll just have to keep on blowing and hoping that I can spread all that dust more evenly and it won't show up, but I've reached the point, where I recommend people to stay away from Canon's dSLR and instead of them go to Sigma or Olympus, which at least have some dust prevention systems available, or go with Nikon, which cleaning (according to some Nikon owners in other forums) is supposed to be free in Finland. If they don't like those options, I recommend that they get Sigma's 18-125 or 18-200 so that they don't have to change lenses...

P.S. After my failure with brushes, I don't even dare to think copperhill methods for cleaning ... :(

The copperhill method worked great for me. My sensor wasn't bad, just a few dust bunnies ;-)a. Rocket blower took care of most of them... copperhill did the rest.

cheers,
