im having a hard time finding alternative foldable softboxes for an alienbee besides the one from PCB
PCB will charge me a ridiculous price to ship to me so im looking for 3rd party brands

fotodiox is one...but im confused to why their 24x24 or 24x32 softboxes on their site are cheaper than the ebay ones

SP Studios makes one but without an inner diffuser

id like to have an inner and outer diffusion panel

You don't say where you're located. Care to share?

Yeah it really depends on where you are located. I know a girl in Denmark that is having a heck of a time trying to get a folding softbox or octa because of overseas shipping. I have bought folding softboxes from PCB, Foto Diox and Photo X Gear and they all are basically the same item but being US based shipping is not an issue for me.

im on Guam
US Territory
USPS charges shipping us the same domestic rates as within the states
UPS considers us international
PCB will only ship UPS to us

how are the Foto Diox foldable softboxes?
are the rods like unfoldable softboxes or are they the half tubed umbrella type
i think fotodiox will ship usps

I bought the Foto Diox off ebay....they are the cheaper build of the three with smaller steel rods. The Photo X Gear is a little better build than the Foto Diox with a little larger steel rods. The PCB's are the best build of the three with a beefer center folding mechanism and about the same size rods as the Photo X Gear ones. If I were using them in every day use I would go with the PCB's. The Foto Diox off ebay were a very good deal considering they also had the grid where you have to purchase those seperately from PCB or Photo X gear. I do not know if the Foto Diox sells a better built folding softbox on their website than what they offer on ebay. The rods on all three are steel round solid rods but alot smaller than the better quality softboxes.

If you're not completely hell bent on having a foldable softbox you can also look at standard softboxes with a Bowens Quick Ring and the AB/WL insert.

The SP Studio Systems EZ-Softboxes most definitely come with an inner diffuser. I own two. They're very well built and bargain priced. No grids, though.

just talked to larson...they have rings and adapters for theirs and they will mount to ab lights...this is what he told me but i have not tried yet to confirm. these are nice boxes. got to try them out 2 weeks ago at a training seminar. the 9x24 soft strips are killer as well as their 42x72 reflector. they have a lot of nice product..a little pricey but nice. seemed like a very well built unit,,light was excellent.

Agreed. I had one. Just sold it.

OP may want to look into the umbrella softbox. That's what I went to because they are easier to break down and move. Got mine from Kaiser.

Ain't nothin but a thing.
