To me they are just like adults but evil with scary little pink hands.

I find most adults far more evil and scary.

How many child politicians can you name?

No, no, Jay. He means chronological age, not mental age.

Correct.

I would have used the term infantile if I meant the adults.

But there is no need for that list, I believe the government already publishes a record of current elected officials.

Does that not encompass all politicians everywhere?

They certainly act like infants - toys most certainly out of the pram if they dont get their way! In fact infants behave better when told to.

I just take two bodies, use on-camera flash. Scope the location for a shelf 6 feet off the ground, where one of the bodies can be stashed.

Children's parties are also one of the few occasions where I use UV filters in addition to my customary lens hoods.

First off I feel bad for you about the havoc wreaked on your equipment, and people not listening to you for the # of people that were to be in each shot, my God, what a pain. But am I the only one that finds it interesting that you brought a backdrop & lights to a 1st birthday party? Or am I really a redneck?....lol! I don't think I know anyone who would ask someone to bring that kind of equipment to a 1st bday party. Yes, 1st b-day's are important, trust me I know, I just went thru that last summer with my own son. But I asked his Godmother to take pix so I could enjoy his big day instead of trying to record it myself. Are they pro quality pictures? No. But do the pictures capture the moment? Yes! Pro pix to record the passage of the 1st birthday I wouldn't have taken at the b-day party, personally - I'd go for a separate session for that. I agree with whoever said camera body, 1 lens, on-camera flash!

Beyond the damaged equipment, it kinda sounded like the issue was with the people wanting to photo larger groups than was planned. Overall seems like the OP is not used to being around kids and what to expect. I would hope its just perception and probably wasn't really that bad aside from the equipment problem. With kids and parents... Locking down 3 people nearly impossible I would think.... Kids and parents want the whole family and group pics with friends. I think it would be easier to manage with a simple flash for bouncing and wider angle lens..... Kid parties can be really fun to photo..
