Chromatic Aberation

I have a lens that has performed very well in the past. It has been sharp the chromatic aberation was only evident in extreme contrast, full frame and only on the edges.
Recently I am noticing what may be a little more CA then I have been accustomed to.
So, my question for the lens pros out there, can Chromatic Aberation increase as the lens ages?

Any lens can have elements begin to drift out of optimal alignment over time but we're talking either really, really old or used in a very harsh manner (dropped, knocked or otherwise abused.)

probably my imagination then...
