This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For exampleā€¦the next game should read "Before & After #275".

This game will end on April 15th at 5:00pm PST. Have fun!

Figured it would be easier to put my light room history. Some of the information isn't important as I was testing some settings

sharpened the wood of the walkway

added some red to the brown foliage on the left side of the walkway and then cloned some of this foliage to the right side in 2 spots.

added some golden sunshine to the walkway - then added a kinda of spotlight effect to lead the eye towards the back of the walkway

punched up the dark areas under the branches and added some blue toward the top of the scene

Ok I will play, I was trying to make the image look a little darker and softer with minimal colors in the image.

Adjusted exposure a bit to darken it up
Turned the vibrancy way down
Added some saturation and contrast
Turned the sharpness down to get that softer look
Added a slight vignette to it as well

Open in ACR. Adjust exposure +0.30. Increase saturation and vibrance, straighten.
Open in CS4, duplicate background in multiply blend mode, reduce opacity to around 60%. Reduce noise with Noise Ninja and then sharpen bridge work and apply Gaussian blur to trees. Increase saturation of red on bridge. SLight overall sharpen then black and white stroke.

Adjusted the levels in PS/Lightroom to make it look like it was shot in the fall when the leaves were changing colors. Sharpened the image a bit. Adjusted the contrast. Added some recovery to get rid of the harsh highlights on the walkway. Added a small bit of vignetting around the edges to focus on the center of the image more. Tilted the image slightly to the left to get rid of the feeling of leaning to the right.

In Photoshop, painted on some brown, a little burning on the walkway, and a little vibrance on the foliage.

Im new here, but decided on a last minute entry

Cropped, adjusted the levels for each RGB channel separately to get a darker/more mysterious feel.
