Thought of wildlife paintings of cold windy days and ducks. CC welcome Thanks in advance. Still in my minimalist mood.

I love the texture of the water but the subject doesn't really stand out. The water is way more interesting an attention grabbing than the duck.

I agree that the duck doesn't really stand out enough. Also that is a Ring-Necked duck not a merganser.

Yep, thats the one.
for me, the photo has way too much space...I have one similar, and cropped it tighter( lol.mine is a Common Scoup?)

I guess in my minimalist brain, I was just going for a small subject on a power point with a moody look to it. You are right, I shot a merganser earlier that day and falsely labled said diver. Thanks

This is an immature drake golden eye. Some may mistake it for a hen Golden Eye but the little white patch on the cheek is the give away that it is a drake.
