Beautiful shot of an amazing bird. I love the colors and the way the shadows interact with the feathers and eye.

That's fantastic, I have loads of red kites on my housing estate but I've never been close enough to capture a shot with them at rest. I've had a few swoop down on my shed roof for chicken scraps but they are so hard to take as they never land and are moving at such a fast pace. I take my hat off to you, that is a great shot.
