REALLY cute kitties, Tiffany!

Attaching one of a friend's son. Been dying for an opportunity to try to get this look. The crisp eyes, in-your-face portrait. What do you guys think?

This from a year ago... I haven't used the 5D much lately. I blame my hasselblad.

Just a quick question. Is the 5D a good wedding / portrait camera? I'd like to update my Rebel 350D but only have a €1.000,- budget. I'm thinking of buying a second hand 5D with give or take 15.000 clicks and an original battery grip. I mainly will use it for portrait and occasionally wedding photography (my best friend is getting married at the end of the year and I'll be the second shooter). From time to time I'll use it for landscape as well. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do some extended research on the 5D so I hope you'll fill me in on this one.

It will be used in combo with the Canon EF 70-200 2.8 L IS II USM I purchased recently.

Thanks in advance.

Just take some time to browse this thread and you will see that the 5D is indeed a favorite for a lot of things, including portraits and weddings. True, some newer cameras have caught a lot of attention and admiration, but there is good reason for the fact that the 5D has held its own in those fields.

Who said 5D can't capture fast moving action?

I know I should ask this question in the lens post, but you folks know what your doing and many outside of the 5D world don't. That being said I have the 5Dc and I am planning to buy the 85 1.8 and the Canon 70-200 f4 non is. For what i try to shoot and budget this seems to be the best value. Is this a good kit? I was shown a Tamron 70-200 2.8 and the camera folks raved about it. All I read is slow focus, seemed good to me but you can see the bad glass I'm currently using. Thanks for all your great advise.

The Canon 70-200 f/4 is a darn good lens. I had one for quite a while and was very pleased with it. For the money (especially used) you can't do too much better. Tiffany answered the question regarding the 85 1.8, and she is a reliable judge of lenses.

Ok, here's a few random shots with the 'new-to-me 5D' that arrived on Friday. Taken at 11:30 am Sunday morning with the 135L. Does this look pretty representative of a 5D and a 135L? Let me know. thanks!

1) Riverfront Centre - activities deluxe from now through end of October

So far, it appears to be a pretty cool camera. Expect to use it mostly for portrait / senior pic / people work, but nothing to shoot but outdoors today. Excited for the new camera.

I LOVE my 85 1.8. It's my go to lens. Love it!

in the studio, i use it a lot. but for me. the 70-200 is the bread and butter lens. It just cant be beat on the 5d especially for portraits. my next favorite for portraits would be the lens we cant talk about and the 85mm.

if i could only have one lens for portraits it would be the 70-200 f/2.8is or the 70-200 f/4L. I own both and would never ever give them up.
