Bueno from Southern California.

Hotter the a well diggers butt out here but seeing my boys make it bearable. 103 in temecula yesterday. you dont need expensive studio gear to take great portraits, but it does help. for under $100.00 you can go to home depot, get some shop lights on a stand. they will light up your area to about f/11. they run about 69.00. go to the bath department and get a solid white cloth bath curtin, go to building department and get 2 foam core boards, stop by the automotive department and pick up a silver windshield relfector, stop by hardware and grab (4) .99 cent clamps.

Now go home, turn the shop lights up full blast, hang the shower curtin infront on the lights, take your 99cent clamps and clamp the shower curtin to your garage rafter, take your 2 foam boards and tape them together so they look like a V, put your girlfriend in the middle, get the curtins as close as possible so the light wraps around her and fire away. you will probably see shadows on the side of her face oppiset from the light sorce, take your $4.00 car windshielkd reflector and bounce some light back into her eyes----trust me its bulletproof. makes for awesome shots.......ask alejanddro for some pointers,,,and your on your way.

check out don Gianatti and his site. there are all kinds of free tutorials to show you how to light with this $100.00 set up

Yesterday my girlfriend and her friend had their makeup done by Clinique and wanted to enter this contest so I was to take a photo of them. Only problem is that I have nothing remotely close to a studio. This is totally makeshift. Any tips for future endeavorers would be greatly appreciated.
