Question:

Is it possible to run the EOS Utility with Windows 7 (64-bit) for camera settings/remote shooting? I have no problems downloading pictures from my 5D when in Print/PTP mode, but PC Connect i am having issues with. I would like to install some custom picture styles. :(

So, I finally got my camera back from Canon Canada after sending it in for the mirror recall.
The time they took didnt impress me at all. This is just a heads up for those that might be sending in there camera to Canon Canada not USA that they can be slow unless you get lucky.

My tracking showed that they received the camera on the 24th of August. But there system online didn't acknowledge receipt until the 26th of August. They finished the servicing by September 8th and shipped it out the same day and to my surprise through overnight shipping so I had it back in my hand on the 9th of September.

If you add it all up it took them 12 business days to get the camera back to me from when they recieved it. In my case it took three days to get there when I shipped it to them. So a total of 15 business days. If you add in all the weekends and holidays in there a grand total of 26 days from the day i shipped it to them and back to me. This to me is extremely poor of Canon Canada. I hear nothing but positive things about Canon USA, but, Canon Canada is just awful in the amount of time they take. Not looking forward to dealing with them again, ever! And to top it off this really is there problem not mine. And fellow Canadians, you actually have to pay out of your own pocket to ship the item to Canon Canada on something that is THERE problem, wow. For me $35 CAD from Vancouver to Ontario with insurance.

That being said they did give my camera a free sensor clean and updated the firmware for me. This being only positive thing about the whole process.

So heads up for any canuck's sending stuff into Canon Canada.

This does leave me wondering however, as many of us Canadians buy our gear from state side stores to begin with (BH, Adorama, etc.) we do technically have US service coverage on our stuff has anyone opted to send there camera into Canon USA instead from Canada? How did it work out? I would rather send my camera stuff to the Irvine service centre then send it to Canon Canon for anything even if it costs me a few bucks.

You'll need the WIA driver but it looks like there isn't one for Windows 7. Possibly try the XP or Vista version?

This is my first post but a long time follower of POTN.
I borrowed my friend's 5D classic for a couple of days and took a few shots with it. First impressions is that the IQ is far superior from my 40D straight out of camera. Minimal pp was done with the image. BTW just got an offer of a used 5D and if everything goes right I will be a proud owner of a 5D later this afternoon. I can't wait ...

That's too bad jay. My experience was totally different. I dropped it off at the service center myself on Thursday, got it back shipped overnight fedex on the following Tuesday. Total time 4 business days, 6 days including the weekend.

I visited my mom and she was like "oooh damn that looks nice, I want that on my wall"
No offense to my wonderful mom, but then I was like "ok so maybe it isn't that great"
