Are there any other non-L lenses worth pairing up with the 5d?

(I had an 85 1.8 once, but sold it as it was too long on my 400d.)

That one^^^^

And the 100mm non L macro.

Well, the only non-L lenses I've used much of late has been the 50 f/1.4 and the 100 f/2.8 Macro. The 50 is actually a good lens but without the bokeh of course of the L. Check out the lens sample archives and see if something appeals to you. Sadly, someone dropped mine a couple months ago and I have to take it apart to do a "fix" on the AF "holders".

The Macro, of course, is a great lens (great for portrait-type shooting and other stuff as well as Macros) even though the new IS version has gotten a sweet rep.

I love the 35 f/2. Obviously not the same if you can afford the 35L, but it's still an awesome lens on the 5D.

I haven't owned that many lenses but I really like the 85 F1.8 on the 5D. That is my go-to portrait lens. Only if I can afford the 85L. *keep dreaming*

Chasing butterflies outdoors, in a breeze, is a very humbling experience.

85 1.8 is amazing on the 5D. I used mine a bunch this past weekend. Makes for a great portrait kit or for a little breathing room during weddings. Although I would love to get the 85L
